The Govt. of India had enacted the Electricity Regulatory Commissions Act, 1998 (No.14 of 1998) on 2nd July, 1998 with the objective of providing for the establishment of a Central Electricity Regulatory Commission and State Electricity Regulatory Commissions, rationalisation of electricity tariff, transparent policies regarding subsidies, promotion of efficient and environmentally benign policies and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.

Director (Engg.) & Director (Law)
Pay : PB- 37400-67000 with Grade Pay Rs. 10000
Essential qualification :
- Graduate Degree in Electrical/Power Engineering OR equivalent from a recognized institution.
- Officers holding analogous Posts on regular basis OR With 2 years regular service in the pay scale of Rs.16400-20000 (Pre-revised) OR equivalent OR with 3 years regular service in the pay scale of Rs.14300-18300 (pre-revised) or equivalent.
Desirable qualification :
- Experience in large public utilities with generation, transmission and distribution facilities.
- Experience in development of Electricity Tariffs, Commercial issues and power purchase agreements.
For Law Director
Essential qualification :
- Law Degree from recognised University/ Law school.
- Officers holding analogous Posts on regular basis OR with 2 years regular service in the pay scale of Rs.16400-20000 (pre-revised) OR equivalent OR With 3 years regular service in the pay scale of Rs.14300-18300 (pre-revised) OR equivalent.
Desirable qualification :
- Experience of handling legal matters in senior position in Central Govt/State Govt. OR any PSU involving administrative, commercial & contract law.
- Experience in drafting statutes and/ OR legislation
Joint Director (Law):
Pay : PB- 37400-67000 with Grade Pay Rs. 8700
Essential qualification :
- Law Degree from a recognised University.

Essential qualification :
- Graduate Degree in any discipline from a recognised University/ Institution.
- 5 years experience in power sector in areas directly connected to end users.
- Demonstrated ability in dealing with consumer problems.
